Structural studies of
glycosyl hydrolases
 |
We are using the Drosophila
homologue of Golgi alpha-mannosidase II to understand the catalytic
mechanism of the mammalian enzyme and design novel anti-metastatic
agents that specifically inhibit this activity. Other
medically-relevant hydrolases under study include lysosomal mannosidase
and intestinal maltase glucoamylase. |
Drosophila expression system
 |
This project involves
optimizing the
Drosophila expression system for routine work in
structure/function studies, evaluating the approach for diverse classes
of molecules, and applying the approach to macromolecules of
medical/biological interest. |
